Terms of service
Last updated 29 September 2026These terms govern your use of the Shunya Shri app, published by Gourhit Ventures Private Limited ("Gourhit Ventures", "we", "us"). By installing or using the app, you agree to them.
What Shunya Shri is
Shunya Shri computes traditional Vedic time divisions and panchang elements — the current date, tithi, nakshatra, muhurat and related timings — from astronomical calculation. It is a timekeeping and reference tool, not fortune-telling. Traditional timing guidance based on astronomical calculation is not a guarantee of any outcome, and the app makes no promises about health, finances, relationships or any other outcome.
Eligibility and accounts
The current version of the app has no login or account system. Any birth details or profiles you enter are stored on your device, as described in our privacy policy.
Subscriptions and billing
- Premium features are offered on monthly and yearly plans, sometimes with a free trial, billed through Google Play (and, once available, the Apple App Store). Prices are set by the store listing, not by us directly.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. Manage or cancel a subscription from your Google Play or App Store account settings — the app links directly to that screen.
- Refunds are handled under Google Play's or Apple's own policies, not by Gourhit Ventures directly.
- We never use Razorpay or any payment method outside the app stores' billing.
Acceptable use
Use the app for its intended purpose. Don't reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the app's data or calculation logic beyond what the app itself displays, and don't use the app in any way that violates applicable law.
Intellectual property
The Shunya Shri app, its name, mark and original content are owned by Gourhit Ventures Private Limited. The third-party components listed below remain the property of their respective owners, under the licences shown. Any birth details, profiles or preferences you enter remain yours.
Open-source and data licences
Shunya Shri is closed-source, but it's built on permissively licensed open-source packages, published astronomical methods, and licensed data. Every dependency is MIT, BSD, Apache-2.0, or OFL (for fonts) licensed — nothing GPL or AGPL. This section is the licence disclosure the app itself points to from Settings.
City data — GeoNames
The app's bundled city list — names, coordinates and time zones — is built from GeoNames data (cities5000, admin1 codes, country info, and the India and Nepal alternate names), used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence.
Changes we made: filtered to places in India and Nepal with 5,000 or more people, and places of 100,000 or more elsewhere; combined with admin1, country and alternate-name tables to add Hindi names and IANA time zones where available; about 90 Hindi place names corrected by hand where GeoNames had none.
